Community Relations and Crime Prevention is a unit within the Sheriff’s Emergency Services Division. The unit is responsible for developing public awareness and crime prevention programs, and building and maintaining relationships that contribute to the safety and well-being of the residents served by the Office of the Sheriff.

The Crime Prevention Unit provides residents of the unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County with a full range of crime prevention and community services. Crime Prevention Specialists work with residents in establishing and maintaining Neighborhood Watch Programs. They also initiate and participate in community meetings, safety fairs and special events.

The Crime Prevention Unit initiates  community outreach programs throughout the unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County.

Crime Prevention Specialists are available to give presentations on a wide variety of crime prevention and safety topics, which include:

Credit Card and Check Fraud Frauds and Scams
