The Custody Services Bureau Training Unit is comprised of one Sergeant, one Deputy Sheriff and 29 Facility Training Officers.

This group of dedicated professionals is responsible for training all newly hired Deputy Sheriffs in the Custody Services Bureau. The Training Unit provides the state-mandated, 56 hour supplemental core course to all new graduates of the basic police academy. The Training Unit mentors new employees who come to us from the two annual Contra Costa Sheriff Academy classes, other police academies, and lateral hires from other agencies.

The Training Unit also provides in-service staff training, policy review and new policy implementation for the approximate 350 sworn staff members in the Custody Services Bureau.
