The Watch Commander program consists of 5 positions at the rank of Lieutenant or higher.  Watch Commanders ensure unity of command during non-business hours and maintain management oversight 24 hours a day for the Office of the Sheriff in the event of a critical incident, major crime, and other significant events.  

Our Watch Commanders provide direction at the command level as needed and act as the highest authority in the absence of other command staff.   They ensure all Office of the Sheriff rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.  Watch Commanders also act as the department’s Public Information Officer as needed. 

Office of the Sheriff Watch Commanders are also the in-field, law enforcement liaison to the County’s Emergency Operations Center and respond to any significant hazardous materials incident, disaster, or other significant event within our county.
