In contract with Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit), the Office of the Sheriff provides police services to protect AC Transit passengers, staff, and property. The unit covers a wide area of West Contra Costa County, including the cities of Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito and the community of El Sobrante. The AC Transit Unit consists of a Lieutenant and seven Deputy Sheriffs. Deputies patrol the bus lines in Contra Costa during AC Transit’s operating hours using a combination of proactive vehicle patrols and boarding/riding of the buses.
